{"id":1,"date":"2015-02-07T15:08:39","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T15:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helplink.com\/CLAFC\/?p=1"},"modified":"2015-09-30T18:47:37","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T22:47:37","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helplink.com\/CLAFC\/?p=1","title":{"rendered":"CLAFC: Creativity, Learning, Adventure, Freedom &#038; Cessation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our cruising plans quite intentionally have a certain philosophical approach;\u00a0<span class=\"highlight\">CLAFC<\/span>:\u00a0<b>C<\/b>reativity,\u00a0<b>L<\/b>earning,\u00a0<b>A<\/b>dventure,\u00a0<b>F<\/b>reedom &amp;\u00a0<b>C<\/b>essation. Each of these terms expresses a world of ideas that are important for how me and my partner\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">choose<\/span>\u00a0to live. We live with these ideas whether we are off wilderness sailing, or living on land.<\/p>\n<p><i>Creativity<\/i>\u00a0is a life-giving view of the world. For me it means seeking new ways of doing things, and simply enjoying the aesthetic of the here and now.<\/p>\n<p><i>Learning<\/i>\u00a0&#8230; never stop\u00a0learning. Living off the prescribed path is a great way to foster this.<\/p>\n<p><i>Adventure<\/i>\u00a0comes in all forms, be it the big sail, or the small walk. I will never shatter records, discover new things, or challenge the gods of nature in any way, but I do enjoy poking into that unknown cove, or trying that weird looking vegetable.<\/p>\n<p><i>Freedom<\/i>\u00a0drives much of what we do. To me freedom is the ability to do what I want, when I want. It&#8217;s an ideal which is never full reached, but I can do some things to go toward the\u00a0<i>Form of Freedom<\/i>. For me (and not necessarily for anyone else):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I avoid debt (b\/c this is one of the ways our society keeps people chained to the treadmill).<\/li>\n<li>Keep mechanical &amp;\u00a0electrical\u00a0systems simple (b\/c I&#8217;m not much of handyman).<\/li>\n<li>And live inexpensively, (b\/c I&#8217;m kinda lazy and don&#8217;t like wage work).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>Cessation<\/i>\u00a0is my active way of ceasing to be part of the problem. From over-consumption to financial greed, my society does great harm to the planet we all call home.
